The Taiwan Association for Trade Secrets Protection visited Minister Tsai to collaborate on promoting trade secrets protection
Minister of Justice Tsai is very concerned about protecting trade secrets. After having discussions with high-tech industry members in the northern, central, and southern science parks to promote experience exchange in protecting trade secrets, today (May 5), he personally received a visit from the Taiwan Association for Trade Secrets Protection, which has long been committed to promoting trade secret protection and cooperation in the industry. The association's deputy director, Fortune (also the deputy legal counsel of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), along with the association's secretary-general and others, visited Minister Tsai at the Ministry of Justice at around 10 am today. They exchanged views on the association's recently completed promotional short film on trade secret protection, which was shot with the assistance of the Ministry of Justice. They discussed the premiere and expansion of the film's promotion, with the aim of maximizing the effectiveness of trade secret protection promotion.
The short film "Trade Secret Protection" is based on actual cases that have been convicted of violating the Trade Secrets Act. The parties involved personally share their experiences to remind employees in the business world to take the protection of their company's trade secrets seriously and not to break the law for the sake of small profits. Minister Tsai also explains in the film that the Ministry of Justice's investigative agencies are committed to protecting domestic trade secrets, especially since the new investigative secrecy order was added to the Trade Secrets Act last year. This allows prosecutors to issue investigative secrecy orders when necessary to prevent secondary leakage of trade secrets and improve investigative efficiency. At the same time, he calls on the industry to strengthen communication with investigative agencies so that law enforcement agencies can better understand the focus of evidence collection and investigation and effectively protect trade secrets, maintain industrial competitiveness, and consolidate the country's economic lifeline.
Minister Tsai particularly praised the film’s multiple perspectives and quality, as it takes into account the needs of the business world and law enforcement agencies and has a cautionary effect, especially when the parties involved personally share their experiences of violating the law. The film can be promoted through various media channels, including print, electronic, and social media, to achieve the goal of promoting trade secret protection. Deputy Director Fortune also expressed his gratitude to Minister Tsai for his unremitting efforts to protect domestic trade secrets, especially for promoting communication and interaction between investigative agencies and the high-tech industry, strengthening investigative efficiency, and hoping that both sides can expand communication and cooperation in the future to protect domestic trade secrets and maintain industrial competitiveness.
Both sides reached a consensus on continuing to work together to protect trade secrets and maintain sustainable economic development.
